SHOPPING, MONKEYS & JEWELLERY

Shopping, Monkeys & Jewellery After spending a month in Thailand and taking part in various activities, I will share some of my favourite activities. Some days spent travelling can be spending hours on a boat, bus, or plane, so it is important on the days you are not travelling you make the most of your time in Thailand. A good way to make sure you are making the most of your trip is to try new activities, food and make new memories. Of course, you can also make the most out of your trip by relaxing by the pool or at the beach, but when you have the opportunity to try new adventures and activities you should!   SHOPPING IN BANGKOK Bangkok is known for its vibrant culture, grand temples, and the lively atmosphere of the city. However, Bangkok is also known for its diverse shopping from luxury malls to markets. When in Bangkok you should take advantage of the fabulous shopping scene. The shopping can range from small local markets to large luxury brands – the shopping can be fo...

HIKES, ADVENTURE, & VIEWS

Image
Hikes, Adventure, and Views While in Koh Samui I visited the popular “Overlap Stone.” This is an activity you do not want to miss when in the island of Koh Samui. The Overlap Stone is a unique viewpoint, that is known for its natural rock formation overlooking the sea.   At the Overlap Stone there is other unique viewpoints to visit – like a giant hand sculpture. At this viewpoint there is a restaurant and bar at the top. Your trip to the viewpoint can be an adventurous hike – this involves a steep uphill trek. However, the staff do provide a pickup truck that can take you up and down the trail. If you are up for an intense hike this may be a great activity for you to do while in Koh Samui. This viewpoint is for everyone to see which is why they do provide a pickup truck. Some tourists use motorbikes to get to the viewpoint, if this would be suitable to you, this could be a choice. If you are thinking of hiking remember to bring water and suncream to stay safe during your...

SUN, SAND & PIGS

Image
Sun, Sand and Pigs While in Koh Samui I visited the popular “Pig Island.” This is a small island that is filled with pigs! Pig Island is originally an island called Koh Madsum. My last day in Koh Samui, Thailand I wanted to do something fun and rememberable before returning home to the rainy UK. I had met other travellers, and they had told me about their experience at Koh Madsum and they said it was not to miss. On my last day I decided to visit, and it did not disappoint. After a quick 15-minute boat ride from Koh Samui I had arrived at Koh Madsum. When getting off the boat I was greeted by lots of pigs. Koh Madsum is an island filled with pigs and surrounded by beautiful clear waters. While on the island I chilled at the beach, had some drinks from the bar, and got to feed the pigs. There were so many pigs some young, cute, and small and others old and huge. The pigs were not aggressive; they were simply curious and friendly. The pigs roamed freely on their own and interacte...

BUNGALOWS, BARBELLS & BEACH DAYS

Image
Bungalows, Barbells and Beach Days   Towards the end of my travels of Thailand, I was off to explore some Thai islands. This included Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. When doing my research of Koh Phangan, I had discovered that this island had a mix of party life, wellness, and relaxation. Koh Phangan is popular for its Full Moon parties. A Full Moon party is a monthly party, that happens on the beach in Haad Rin – This party takes place on the night of, before, or after every full moon. During my planned time to stay on this island this party was not on. Since the Full Moon Party was not on during my stay, I chose for something different – a fitness resort by the beach. Koh Phangan is well known for its many yoga, wellness, and meditation retreats.   I stayed at Wild Wood x Hansa Beach Fitness Resort . This resort is in Thong Sala, which is the main town in Koh Phangan. Wild Wood was in a great location that was close to the port (where you enter and exit the island by boat), lo...
