While in Koh Samui I visited the popular “Overlap Stone.” This is an activity you do not want to miss when in the island of Koh Samui. The Overlap Stone is a unique viewpoint, that is known for its natural rock formation overlooking the sea.


 

At the Overlap Stone there is other unique viewpoints to visit – like a giant hand sculpture. At this viewpoint there is a restaurant and bar at the top.


Your trip to the viewpoint can be an adventurous hike – this involves a steep uphill trek. However, the staff do provide a pickup truck that can take you up and down the trail. If you are up for an intense hike this may be a great activity for you to do while in Koh Samui. This viewpoint is for everyone to see which is why they do provide a pickup truck. Some tourists use motorbikes to get to the viewpoint, if this would be suitable to you, this could be a choice. If you are thinking of hiking remember to bring water and suncream to stay safe during your hike in a hot climate.

 

This viewpoint is a fantastic opportunity to see the beautiful scenes of Lamai beach and the surrounding area of Koh Samui. The views are unforgettable and show the true beauty of Koh Samui. When visiting I went in the morning time, at this time it was less busy and not as hot as during the day. Morning is the perfect time to visit to avoid crowds and the hot weather. At the top of the viewpoint there is many areas with beanbags where you can sit, chill, and enjoy the views. If I were to return I would love to visit either at sunrise or sunset to capture an even better view.

 

Koh Samui does have different weather pattern than the rest of Thailand. Koh Samui experiences “rainy” season from October to December, where the other areas of Thailand “rainy” season is from May to September. It is important to take this into consideration when planning your trip to avoid the rain, so that you can visit the Overlap Stone in a dry and safe climate. As if it is raining this hike would not be safe due to slippy paths.

 

This viewpoint is worth the hike, and it has so much more to offer than just the views. With a restaurant with friendly staff, a pickup & drop off service up and down the trail- the staff do offer transportation that can bring you back to your hotel/ or whenever you are heading next. The areas provided to chill and enjoy the view is a lovely touch to the hike as you could spend all day at the viewpoint eating, chilling and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the island.


There are plenty of photo opportunities for those who love capturing a moment.

   Elephants of Chiang Mai     One of my main reasons for visiting Chiang Mai was to visit an ethical elephant sanctuary. Elephants are one of my favourite animals, and it was a dream of mine to visit them in Thailand. This is a popular activity for tourists to do when in Thailand. Not all of these “elephant sanctuaries” that claim to be ethical are ethical. Elephants belong in the northern regions of Thailand, so elephant sanctuaries in the south are usually not ethical, as elephants are not native to these areas.   Cities to Beaches Thailand was always a country that has been on my bucket list, so summer 2025 I decided to visit.  When planning my month trip to Thailand I wanted to ensure that I was exploring as much of the country as possible.
